ETG Bio's

Austin, Texas.....Track & Field Lives Here In The NEW Distance Running Capital of the World

Membership in the ETG is restricted primarily to athletes club owner Marshall Burt coached directly or indirectly when they were in high school at Fort Hunt, West Potomac, or W.T. Woodson High Schools in northern Virginia (Alexandria and Fairfax) in the mid - late 1980's, and part of the year of 1990. The club will grow to 25 - 30 members over the next 5 years.

Outside of the High School Connection pathway to automatic membership in the ETG, someone who does not have the High School Connection can alternatively become a club member by way of a lengthy application and selection process [see the ETG Application . This process is expected to accept another 50 - 100 athletes as members over the next 10 - 20 years.

The ETG is primarily focussed on elite level performance, and in addition, has club members with a variety of levels of personal goals and performance in the sport below the elite level.

After the 1992 & 1996 Olympic trials came and went with no ETG athletes qualified, further recruiting was put on hold while design flaws in the ETG training program were searched for, identified, and resolved. The process was anticipated to take a few months to a year. A decade and a half later, with such issues resolved and the recruiting base of athletes well into their 30's, the recruiting process [recruiting athletes formerly coached by club owner Marshall Burt] will restart in late 2009.

High School Connection ------- coached by ETG club owner Marshall Burt during his sophomore year at West Potomac High School, Alexandria, Virginia in the late 1980's.

High School & College ------- Graduated from West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1990. College....graduated from Mary Washington University in Fredricksburg, Virginia

Some History ------- In high school, aside from cross-country, Kyle focused on the middle distances [primarily 800 meters] in track, and stayed in that area during his first years of collegiate track and field. Academically, he began to focus on music and develop his keyboard knowledge and skills while in college. After graduation, he funded his music career by working as a certified Business Process Manager at a major financial services company in Richmond, Virginia.

Kyle is now a professional musician. He owns -Lakeside-studio- which he built out of his home just outside Richmond Virginia where he produces local musicians in the Richmond area. Prior to opening his own studio, kyle was the keyboardist for the highly successful band "Copper Sails" which had appearances on the Richmond, Virginia local CBS news station's show called "Virginia This Morning", concerts at Richmond's giant venue called "The National", and songs licensed to MTV and ESPN off of their final album [Hiding Place]. Their song [Sleeping Giant] aired nationally in July 2008 during the "Diamond Cuts" segment of ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" highlight show. Their segment of the show......ESPN's Baseball Tonight. In late 2009, the band decided to call it quits. Their last concert was October 2009.

In 2002, Kyle married Karen Self, and they have a daughter [Brianna May]. Kyle's older brother Kevin Crosby [also coached in high school by ETG club owner Marshall Burt] is a serious cyclist, living in Blacksburg Virginia, where he is teaching and earning a PhD in Epidemiology at Virginia Tech University. Prior to joining the ETG, Kyle had been out of the sport for many years. Gained as much as 30 pounds, and eventually got into running for fitness and gradually lost the weight. One of his former high school teammates visited Austin and forwarded information catching him up with former ETG club member Mike Morgovnik [they lived 3 houses apart when they were in high school], and ETG club owner Marshall Burt [they lived about 100 yards apart when Kyle was in high school]. Several months later as his interest in getting back into the sport gradually grew, Kyle contacted Marshall and decided to return to serious training.

As an ETG club member, Kyle began training at a national class, 1:46 800m pace in September 2008 after completing progressions at a slower pace. At 1:46 pace he started at short durations and progressed quickly to the 250 meter mark before cutting back on ETG training as he was building and opening his music studio. He'll return to full ETG training after this transition period is completed.
